The unique IMA (Intelligent Multi-Action) sensing facility is the backbone of many of Hycontrol's foam monitoring products. The patented IMA SensingĀ® technology enables Hycontrol sensors to discriminate between any residual deposit of foam and product that builds up on the sensor itself and the foam that is being created in the process.
Effectively, the foam sensor ignores the inevitable fouling that will accrue during normal operation while continuing to monitor the foam. No matter how heavily the sensor is coated or how dense and sticky the layer, its unique construction enables it to keep measuring foam throughout the process cycle.
The diagram on the right shows a Hycontrol foam sensor coated in a sticky build-up of foam and product. The measuring current, which is shown in red on the graphic continues to flow only through the foam. The blue line represents the leakage current driven by the guard electrode. This design enables the sensor to function as the leakage is measured separately and not as part of the foam signal.
It is often not possible to prevent material build-up on a probe in a process vessel. Indeed, to attempt to do so may disrupt and compromise the process. Hycontrol's IMA technology enables the sensor to function reliably despite extensive coating or fouling. Please watch the video below for more information:
